IS MANUAL OSTEOPATHY RIGHT FOR YOU?

Manual Osteopathy is a gentle , hands-on therapy, focusing on restoring function and eliminating pain by addressing the root cause of the pain, imbalance, injury or illness. Manual Osteopathy is an effective treatment on its own as well as in conjunction with other manual therapies including; physiotherapy , chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopath, and massage therapy.
Techniques used may include Soft Tissue, Visceral Manipulation, Craniosacral Therapy, Osteoarticulations and Advanced Fascial Release.
Treatments are often performed clothed in gym attire, and require little to no oil/lotion. We use maximum precision with minimal force, making treatments SAFE for all ages, including newborns, elderly & during pregnancy.

MANUAL OSTEOPATHY CAN HELP IF:
You continue to experience pain after receiving conventional treatment or the pain continues to return
You have had a traumatic injury, fall, accident or sports injury
You have postural imbalances
You are experiencing prenatal discomforts and/or postpartum recovery
You had surgery
You are suffering from digestive problems, constipation, migraines, menstrual pain or unexplained pain or symptoms
You are suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD or other traumatic life event

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST TREATMENT:

A detailed health history will be taken and an assessment will be conducted. Assessments may include, but are not limited to: range of motion tests, hands-on assessment of joints, muscles, fascia, and/or viscera (organs). Your therapist may focus on an area far away from the area that hurts, working in a systematic approach to address ROOT causes of the pain or dysfunction.
***We recommend wearing loose gym clothing/shorts and a t-shirt ( pullover sports bras are NOT recommended).

A detailed birth history and developmental history will be taken. A full hands-on body assessment will be taken. Findings are then discussed and treatment provided. The treatments are very gentle and often infants will sleep right through them, however crying is also a normal response. Babies' bones, Joints, Ligaments, and Muscle structure is different than adults', and therefore require a different level of treatment. Our practitioner has extensive training and certification for treating babies. Babies respond quickly to treatments.

In addition to what you would expect as an adult, your practitioner will review your prenatal history and modify your treatments based on the trimester you are currently in. Treatments in the first trimester can prevent later-term discomforts and improve birth outcomes. Our practitioner is certified in Manual Osteopathy for the Obstetrical Patient.

Julie accepts patients of all ages and gender. From Pain Release/Management to Relaxation you and your family are in good hands. Julie specializes in Pediatrics, Obstetrical and Women’s health.

Her studies in Pediatric Osteopathy include Pediatric Myofascial Release, Craniosacral Therapy, Plagiocephaly, Congenital Torticollis, Cranial Molding Digestion and Feeding Disturbances, and Orthopedic Dysfunctions.

Julie has had the privilege of studying internationally and practicing under the mentorship of Author/Educator Carol Osborn for obstetrical massage.

Julie is currently in the field of Pediatric Cancers and oncology massage and has participated in hands on learning with pediatric patients at the National Children’s Hospital in Washington DC.

In addition to Manual Therapy Julie has over 35 years working with families as a Birth Educator, Doula and Montessori Preschool Educator.

When not working or studying, Julie loves to spend time with her two grandsons, and her new granddaughter. She enjoys dancing, travel, and comedies. Want to strike up an interesting conversation ? - ask her about Alpacas :)

Alan has had the privilege to work in Alberta and BC mentoring along side some of the best in multidisciplinary clinics and the World Class Resort - Sparkling Hills.

Continuing his education beyond a Master Electrician, he decided to follow a new career as a Registered Massage Therapist and finally finding his passion in completing his diploma as a Manual Osteopathic Practitioner.

With having raised his kids and now having three grandkids, health and balance of life is important to him.

A drive to solve chronic issues, ongoing pains and aches of aging, Alan’s continuing success comes from listening to the patient and absorbing the facts and completing the puzzle that is presented to him.

Alan is currently advancing his education in the field with the most up to date, evidence based techniques. Including advanced fascia release, concussion recovery and treatments for head and neck injuries.
